Heartwood Farm

Some of the places that make Heartwood magical…

The Heartwood Yurt

Find yourself in the embrace of our 26’ yurt. It can hold up to 30 people but still feels intimate. It provides shelter in rain or cool weather. But even when the sun shines, it’s a really cool place. If you’re curious, we got our yurt from these very cool people.

Woodland Patio

The woodland patio is available for retreats and meetings when the weather is nice - you’ll find yourself under a leafy canopy with dappled sunlight coming through. It’s a special place to spread out and get some work done. Or to meditate. Or to be curious…

Hoop House

The Hoop House used to be a greenhouse for growing vegetables, but a few years ago we converted it into an event space and now use it for gatherings, crafts, and activities.

Labyrinth

The first orchard we planted took the form of a labyrinth - a place where you can get lost, or be found. A bounteous place of fruit - apples, pears, cherries, hazelnuts, and berries. We often go into the labyrinth to practice “bird’s eye - ant’s eye view”, where we’re encouraged to notice how the living system is unfolding at every scale.

Pasture

Heartwood’s pastureland forms a gently rolling terrain accented by hedgerows planted on contour. Not only does this “keyline” approach expose the aesthetic curvature of the land, it also serves to guide the flow of water and nutrients. We often use the pasture as a way to focus on the tension between grid and contour.

The Barn

It’s amazing how few people have relationships with animals beyond house pets (not that there’s anything wrong with those!) But as regenerative farmers, we know that animals play a crucial role in soil health. Maybe that’s why so many of us are drawn to them. In the barn, you’ll see pigs, llamas, horses, cows, chickens, sheep, and even the odd cat and dog.

Ciderhouse

We sometimes say we’re in the “transformation business” - from sunlight to soil to tree to branch to fruit to juice, and finally, to drinks that sparkle. The Ciderhouse is where the alchemy happens.

Tasting Room

As a licensed cidery, we make a whole line of alcoholic and non-alcoholic ciders. If you’re interested, check out our online store.

Our tasting room and bottle shop is charming and intimate, and when your retreat or meeting is over, you’re welcome to visit the store and take a bit of the Heartwood magic home with you.

“You can feel the love that goes into this farm, the land and the animals.”
